TWO CENTURIES OF THE SYNAGOGUE: BETWEEN HISTORY, CULTURE, AND SPIRITUALITY
November, 10
This year, Sabbioneta celebrates an extraordinary milestone: two centuries of our synagogue, a place rich in history, culture, and spirituality that deserves to be discovered and celebrated. Join a series of special events that will explore the traditions, stories, and legacy of this icon of our community.
The day will begin at the Teatro all'Antica at 10:30 AM with a conference featuring the following institutional greetings:
Marco Pasquali, Mayor of Sabbioneta
Ezio Zani, Director of the Sabbioneta Heritage Foundation
Aldo Norsa, President of the Jewish Community of Mantova
There will be expert presentations on significant topics, including the five centuries of Jewish presence in Sabbioneta, by Alberto Sarzi Madidini, and a reflection on the future of the ancient community with Marid a Brignani. Additionally, Stefano Patuzzi will speak about the printing house of Tobia Foà and the book "Visione terribile" by Isaac Arama. Finally, the donation of a work by Tobia Foà for the exhibition hall of the synagogue will be announced.
In the afternoon, at 3:00 PM, there will be a guided tour of the exhibition "The Gonzagas and the Jews," curated by Emanuele Colori and Mauro Patuzzi, at the Palazzo Ducale. At 4:00 PM, a guided tour of the synagogue will be held, led by the speakers from the morning conference.
The day will conclude at 4:30 PM with a musical performance by Stella Bassani, voice, and Luca Bonaffini, guitar.
All events are free of charge.
